Bucket Filling

As a nationally recognized School of Character, we are constantly striving to help shape our students into responsible, respectful, fair, caring, and trustworthy citizens.  To support our commitment to building Kids of Character, we are excited to bring the “Bucket Filling” movement to Imagine Weston this year!

What is Bucket Filling?

Bucket Filling, based on the book “Have You Filled a Bucket Today?  A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids” by Carol McCloud, is the act of filling others’ “buckets” by actions or words that show that we care about them.  A person’s “bucket” is meant to represent a person’s mental and emotional self.  When a person’s “bucket” is full, they are more confident, secure, calm, patient, and friendly.  Additionally, the act of filling another’s bucket is said to cause a chain reaction, inspiring the recipient to pay it forward - which is what we hope to accomplish this year at Imagine!  We are hoping to cause a movement in which filling others’ buckets becomes a part of our culture and strengthens not only our students’ character, but enhances our entire school community and environment!

You can get in on the fun as well!  During the upcoming school year, there will be a bucket in the front office.  We encourage you, as part of our school community, to help us fill the “buckets” of our teachers and staff by leaving notes of appreciation and encouragement
